Colobot: Gold Edition, also known as Colonize with Bots, is an educational game that combines exploration and programming elements. The main objective is to find a suitable planet for humans to establish a new colony, while encountering and dealing with various extraterrestrial life forms. Players must program robots using a specialized language similar to C++ or Java in order to navigate and perform tasks on the new planet. Originally released in 2001 by Epsitec SA, Colobot: Gold Edition underwent development changes in 2012 which resulted in regular updates and improvements to the game. The updated version offers different game modes such as Missions, Free Game, Exercises, Challenges, and Custom Levels, each providing a unique gaming experience. With simple controls for character movement and interaction, players can explore planets, construct buildings, and interact with aliens. Programming robots, however, requires the use of keyboard inputs and is considered the most challenging aspect of the game.
